I just had a chat in my Facebook reader's group, The Medieval World of https://kathrynbouseleveque.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/lord-despair-high-res-scaled-1.jpg Le Veque (which you should join if you haven't already) about the 'heaviness' of a book - that is, whether it's a light read or a deeply complex and emotional one. Most of my books fall into the latter category because that's how my brain works. Long books, deeply complex, a lot of characters, a lot going on - that's a complex and 'deep' book. Some books - like my recent release, The Black Storm, are rather light romps. An adventure, a good romance, but not really deep or complicated. An example of a deep and complex book would be A Wolfe Among Dragons or Beast. Those are very complex. WolfeLord is going to fall into that category. WolfeLord takes two characters we have already met (in ShadowWolfe, at the very end) and now we discover their backstory and where they are several years later. To say it is a mess is an understatement. How could a de Lohr wife and a de Wolfe husband have anything other than a perfect marriage? Well, we're going to find out, and it's just not easy. Surprise! Yet another 'surprise' release (with a very short pre order), but The Black Storm has finally arrived! This one is all about the tournaments. William de Wolfe, Paris de Norville, and Kieran Hage make very brief cameos at a tournament in Durham where Ridge de Reyne is competing. You know if something is happening in the north in the mid-to-late part of the 13th century, there's going to be a de Wolfe around. It was fun to work them in. I saw an advance reviewer say that they wished they were in the story more, but this story was about Ridge - not the de Wolfe Pack - so I didn't want to take away from that. But it was fun to have them 'poke their heads in' and say hello! This was a fun book to write. It's not huge - it's not a giantly-sweeping romance - but it's a little spicy and tender in places, with some furry friends as side-kicks. I think you're going to enjoy a fun, somewhat light romp (as far as my books go), so I hope you pick it up for your weekend (or weekday) reading! It is in Kindle Unlimited…

THE SPLENDID HOUR is here!!!   I'm so excited for you to read this book because there's a LOT going on in it. You know I like me some political intrigue... and hatred of King John... and love of the virtuous (sometimes) Executioner Knights. That always makes for such a fun story, but now I've brought Marcus Burton back into the mix. He's such a paradox - the man you love to hate in Rise of the Defender, yet Christopher was always so forgiving of him and I've had readers ask me 'why' - why did Chris forgive Marcus for all of the problems he caused?   I think it's a simple answer - because Christopher and Marcus were closer than brothers in the Levant and they saved each others' lives numerous times. There was something in Christopher that just couldn't see Marcus as 'wicked'. He still saw that man he loved, the one he fought side by side with, and he couldn't get past that. David was a little different - he was close to Marcus, too, but not like Marcus and Chris were, probably because they were so much alike. David saw his brother's forgiveness as weakness, but I think that…
